Abstract

As sustainability has become increasingly important, green logistics practices have emerged as a significant research area, particularly in agricultural logistics. This study aims to identify the barriers to implementing green logistics practices in agricultural logistics. A qualitative case study was conducted on a logistics company operating in the agricultural logistics sector in Türkiye. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with two senior managers and analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings indicate that the barriers are concentrated in six dimensions; financial, infrastructural, technological, institutional, knowledge-related, and policy- and regulation-related factors. The high costs of environmentally friendly technologies and unfavorable economic conditions were identified as major obstacles to the widespread adoption of green logistics practices. In addition, the lack of standardization negatively affects logistics efficiency. Despite the study's limited sample, consisting of a single firm and two managers, its in-depth and contextual examination of the barriers to green logistics practices makes an original contribution to the existing literature.
