Abstract

This study aims to optimize drying time in tumble dryers by determining textile type, load amount, and initial moisture level using data obtained from built-in conductivity sensors. Artificial intelligence-based models enable the automatic identification of textile characteristics, allowing the development of customized drying strategies for each load. Through the implementation of machine learning and artificial neural network algorithms, an average of 33% reduction in drying time was achieved. The model accuracy ranged between 86% and 95%, with the highest performance obtained using a Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) architecture. These findings indicate that the proposed system not only improves user experience but also contributes to the advancement of sustainable drying technologies.
