Abstract

In recent years, rapid technological transformations have led not only to the emergence of new technologies but also to significant advancements in existing ones. In particular, artificial intelligence (AI) technologies are transforming traditional methods in education and creating entirely new paradigms. The necessity for a more active, systematic, and intelligent use of AI has emerged to adapt to the rapidly changing world and to make learning processes more effective. This study was conducted to examine Turkish language teachers’ views on the effects of AI-based applications on students’ four fundamental language skills. Employing a phenomenological research design, the study’s participants consisted of 22 Turkish language teachers working in public secondary schools in Van, Türkiye. A semi-structured interview form was used as the data collection tool. The findings indicate that AI-based applications offer various opportunities in language learning processes and may support the development of students’ all four language skills, particularly through features such as personalized learning, immediate feedback, gamification, and motivation enhancement. However, these effects may vary depending on learner characteristics, the manner in which the applications are used, and the quality of pedagogical design; therefore, careful, conscious, and planned approaches should be adopted when integrating these technologies into educational settings.
