Abstract

The city of Antiokheia, which is located in the Lakes Region today and in Pisidia in ancient times, is located in the Yalvaç district of Isparta province. In 2020, excavation and arrangement works were carried out in some of the shops in the West Gate square, which provides the main entrance to the city. As a result of the studies, extensive ceramic finds were uncovered. The ceramic forms found in the buildings named Shop 1 and Shop 2 were examined along with the purposes of use of the buildings. In addition, a bench raised with stone masonry was found along with the clay piles found on the floor of Shop 1. Kneading water and dry shrinkage tests were carried out on samples taken from clay piles to investigate their suitability for ceramic making. In this study, light was shed on the final use phases of the shops along with the ceramic forms unearthed during the excavations. The forms were dated to the 6th - 7th centuries AD by comparing them with other context finds and similar samples, and by determining their intended use, the aim is to contribute to the ceramic typology, archeology and ceramic science of the region and the city.
