Abstract
It can be stated that as a result of the Mongol invasions beginning in the 1220s and the subsequent collapse of the Khwarazmshah Dynasty, communities migrating from this region were resettled in Anatolia, particularly in its western parts. With the expansion of the Ottoman Empire into the Balkans, some of these groups were also relocated in dispersed groups to the Balkan territories. Karaca Ahmed and the community associated with him appear to have left enduring traces both in Anatolia and in the Balkans as part of these migratory movements. This study aims to present certain observations and evaluations concerning the Karaca Ahmed zaviye, tomb, masjid, mosque, and neighborhood in Edirne as reflected in records from various historical periods.
