Abstract

With the meta-analysis method, which is the re-analysis of statistical analyzes by bringing together independent individual studies on a certain subject, the usual literature review is one step ahead. In addition to using quantitative methods, the meta-analysis method has some basic principles. The aim of this study is to explain the meta-analysis method comprehensively to indicate these principles. Respectively, to transmit the historical development of meta-analysis, the purpose, and importance of the primary and methods used in the meta-analysis will reveal the difference from the secondary analysis, meta-analysis type and effect size model selection are to explain the strong and weak directions. In the part of the data collection method required for meta-analysis, it is to provide information about how to encode the data by specifying the inclusion and exclusion criteria of the data obtained by data collection tools. After the coding method, it is to explain the analysis phase of the data. In addition, by giving sequential steps to follow in meta-analysis, general effect size tests with analysis of data and testing of moderator effects of subgroups are also to be able to form a qualified guide for future individual researchers.
