In this context, SWOT analysis, a commonly used strategic analysis technique in sports tourism, was applied. The analysis highlighted Van’s natural and cultural wealth as its strengths, while insufficient infrastructure and promotional activities were identified as weaknesses. Additionally, opportunities such as organizing international events and threats like promotional shortcomings or economic stagnation were examined in detail. During the research process, interviews were conducted with representatives from various institutions and sectors related to sports tourism in Van. The study's sample group consisted of 51 participants, including representatives from the Van Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports, municipalities, sports clubs, academicians, travel agencies, hotels, and media professionals. Participants provided their evaluations of Van’s sports tourism potential and shared suggestions for its development through semi-structured interview forms. The data collected during this process were analyzed using descriptive analysis methods, and the findings were categorized thematically.
