İşgal edilen yerlerden bir tanesi de 19 sene boyunca Fransız mandası altındaki Suriye’ye bırakılan İskenderun Sancağı’ydı.Bu kitap Hatay Sorununu, Sancak’ta yaşayan farklı, etnik ve mezhep gruplarına ait olan insanların aralarında geçen olaylar ve konunun uluslar arası ilişkiler boyutu üzerinden irdelemektedir. Bu çalışma, Sarah D. Shields’ın Hatay’ın Türkiye’ye katılma sürecini ele alan Fezzes in the River adlı çalışmasının tanıtım yazısıdır
