Abstract

The main objective of the research is to find out the problems met by women related to the parliament membership in Turkey, during the periods of election, parliament membership after the elections, and postparliament membership to develop solution proposals and alternative public policies related to the assessed problems. The data was gathered by using semi structured interview during the research and the parliament members were selected by using criterion-sampling technique. To have a group, who were completed all the phases of a political participation progress, the interviews were implemented only by the woman parliamentarians who were elected for the 23th parliament period (2007-2011) and were not elected for the following term. Hereby it’s evaluated that, the study will contribute to the literature as being one of the qualitative surveys in Turkey, concerning the problems met by women parliament members during all phases of the political progress by means of gender perspective.
