Abstract
This study deals with a six-episode Turkish TV series Arayış, which first aired on Disney Turkey on June 14, 2023. The series plays a crucial role in terms of problematizing New Age spirituality, which is oriented towards people with university education, professional professions and middle-upper income groups living in the metropolitan cities of today's Turkey. In this study, the Arayış is evaluated as a TV narrative that echoes the neo-liberal crisis in Turkey, and reveals the economic, social and cultural grounds on which spirituality is nourished. Therefore, this study aims to conduct a critical discussion of the series, through a qualitative textual analysis.
Özet
Bu çalışma, Disney Türkiye’de ilk sezonu 14 Haziran 2023 tarihinde altı bölüm olarak yayınlanan Arayış adlı Türk dizisini ele almaktadır. Dizi, günümüz Türkiye’sinin metropol şehirlerinde yaşayan, üniversite eğitimine, profesyonel mesleklere ve orta-üst gelir grubuna sahip kişilerin yöneldikleri Yeni Çağ spiritüelliğini sorunsallaştırmak bakımından oldukça önemlidir. Bu çalışmada Arayış, Türkiye'deki neo-liberal krizi yankılayan, spiritüelliğin beslendiği ekonomik, sosyal ve kültürel zemini gözler önüne seren bir TV anlatısı olarak değerlendirilmektedir. Buradan hareketle çalışmada, niteliksel bir metin analizi aracılığıyla, Arayış dizisi hakkında eleştirel bir tartışma yürütmek amaçlanmaktadır.
