\r\n Eski Türkçede, ilk hecedeki yuvarlak ünlülerin darlık veya genişlik bakımından tespiti ciddi bir problemdir. Bu ciddi problem nasıl çözülebilir ve çözerken hangi metotları uygulamak gerekmektedir? Eski Türkçenin problemlerinin çözmede Eski Türkçenin kaynakları tek başına yeterli olmamakta, karşılaştırmalı Türk Lehçeleri yöntemine başvurmamız gerekmektedir. Bu bağlamda Dīvānu Lugāt–it Türk bize ne kadar katkı sağlayabilir, Mahmut Kaşgarî'nin ses bilgisi yöntemleri bize nasıl faydalı olabilir? Makalemizde, bu problemler üzerinde durulacak ve bir çözüm önerisi sunulacaktır.\r\n
