Abstract
\r\n In this study, the last 15 seasons of Turkish Professional Football league is investigated. 1994-1995 football season is chosen as a starting point of the study since starting from that season, the number of teams in the league was fixed to 18 teams. Overall aim of the study is to predict final ordering of the teams in the following season using past positions and points obtained. In the study, one of the time series analysis technique, namely ARIMA, is used to predict the final point of the 2009-2010 champion of Turkish Turkcell Super League. Furthermore, The Poisson distribution is used the predict the probability of obtaining ARIMA predicted point for some teams. Finally, an ARIMA model is suggested for German Bundesliga based on Turkish ARIMA modelling experience.\r\n
Özet
\r\n Bu çalışmada Türkiye Profesyonel Futbol liginin son 15 sezonu araştırılmıştır. Çalışmanın başlangıç noktası olarak alınan 1994-1995 sezonu ligin 18 takım ile oynandığı döneme denk gelmektedir. Çalışmanın genel amacı sezon sonu puan tablosu kullanılarak, bir sonraki yıl puan tablosu hakkında çıkarımlarda bulunabilmektir. Çalışmada zaman serisi analizi tekniklerinden ARIMA, 2009-2010 sezonu lig birincisi puanını tahmin etmek üzere kullanılmıştır. Ayrıca ARIMA ile önerilen puanı elde edebilecek takımlar için olasılık hesaplamaları Poisson dağılımı yardımıyla hesaplanmıştır. Son olarak Turkcell süper lig ARIMA modeli temel alınarak Almanya Bundesliga içinde ARIMA modeli önerilmiştir.\r\n
