\r\n Uzun bir geçmişten beri “İslâm ve Çağdaşlık”, İslâm ve Değişim”, “İslâm ve Reform” gibi konular tartışılmaktadır. Bu tartışmaların odağında “İslâm dininin gelişmelerle, değişen dünya koşullarıyla uyuşup uyuşmadığı, uyuşmuyorsa ne yapılmalı?” gibi sorular bulunmaktadır. Dogmatik temellere oturan sistemler, değişen koşullara uyum sağlayamaz. Çünkü bu tür sistemler, insana düşünme, sorgulama ve üretme hakkı vermezler, her türlü fikre yeniden yapılandırmaya kapalıdırlar. Çağdaşlık ise özgün düşünceyi, sorgulamayı, zamanın gereklerine ve çoğunluğun yararına olana göre yaşamı düzenlenmeyi gerekli kılar. Bu çalışmada, “İslâm temel yapı olarak dogmatik bir din midir, bütün dünyayla ve çağdaşlıkla uyum içinde olabilir mi?” sorusuna cevap aranmaktadır. \r\n
