Abstract

There are many direct and indirect treatment options that can be applied in the restoration of root canal treated teeth with excessive material loss. In order for the applied restorations to be successful in the long term, the prosthetic treatment to be applied after root canal treatment must be chosen correctly. Restorations made on teeth with root canal treatment should prevent the fracture of the remaining tooth tissue after root canal treatment, prevent contamination of the root canal system by preventing coronal leakage, and replace the lost tooth tissue and ensure the re-functioning of the tooth. Endocrowns, in which the core and crown structure are produced as a single piece in a monoblock form, are current and conservative restorations that can be applied for the restoration of root canal treated teeth. When cavity preparation is made in endocrowns, an amount of preparation should be made to provide sufficient space for the restoration, and care should be taken to plan in a way that will prevent fractures that may occur in the restoration. Different types of preparation have been proposed for endocrown restoration, including cavity design, intraradicular extension, axial wall angle, edge finish line, and pulp chamber depth. The purpose of this review article is to examine the preparation types of endocrown restorations.
