The Ahi organization was a social, cultural and economic institution in the time of Turkish Seljuks. At that time, Anatolia became a center for an intense scientific activities which included the application of the science to the artistic and business activities. Many scientific studies were produced and the Ahi organization created a network of support for such scientific research. Indeed, many merchants and art-craft people dedicated themselves the Ahi promotion and distribution of the scientific research and its implementation in their businesses.

Ahilik, Türkiye Selçukluları zamanında kurulan sosyal, kültürel ve ekonomik nitelikli bir kuruluştur. O dönemde Anadolu’da tabiat bilimleri alanında yoğun bir çalışma vardı. Bu alandaki çalışmalar, bilimin iş ve san’at alanlarında uygulanması düşüncesini ön plâna çıkarmıştır. Bu düşünceyi açıklayan çok sayıda eserler Anadolu’da telif edilmiştir. Bu alandaki çalışmalar o dönemde Anadolu’daki esnaf ve sanatkârlar arasında taraftar bulmuştur. Bu düşüncede olan esnaf ve sanatkârlar ahilik denilen örgütü kurdular. Bu örgüte mensup olan ahiler iş ve sanat alanında bu düşünceyi uygulamayı kendilerine ülkü edinmişlerdir.
