Özet
III. Friedrich’in not defteri, imparatorun kendi el yazısıyla tuttuğu ve büyük ölçüde kişisel bilgiler içeren bir kaynaktır. III. Friedrich’in gözünden onun etrafındaki dünyaya ve ilişkilerine bakışı gözler önüne seren metin, resmî belgelerde yer almayan bilgileriyle III. Makalede, not defterindeki tüm kayıtlar kapsamlı biçimde aktarılmamakta; bunun yerine konu bağlamında seçilmiş örnek kayıtlar üzerinden analiz yürütülmektedir. Her bölümde, III.
Abstract
The notebook of Frederick III is a source written in the emperor’s own hand and containing largely personal information. In general, this notebook provides details on birth and death dates, family members, knighthood and pilgrimage ceremonies, income and expenditure records, and aspects of daily life. Moreover, its literary style transforms the text from a mere record conveying information into a document that also reflects the emperor’s intellectual and emotional perspective. Presenting a view of the world and relationships surrounding him through Frederick’s own eyes, the text reveals decision-making processes that offer an internal perspective on his political rise, including information absent from official documents. At the same time, the notebook is of particular importance for documenting the formation process of the monogram composed of the letters “a e i o u” which later became the symbol of the dynasty. In these respects, the notebook constitutes a valuable source for evaluating governance and dynastic relations in fifteenth-century Austria through the emperor’s personal experiences. The article does not comprehensively reproduce all entries in the notebook; instead, it conducts an analysis based on selected sample entries relevant to the subject. In each section, the background of the entries is related to information about Frederick’s personal and political life and evaluated within its own context. Through this method, the study seeks to reveal the meaning and historical significance of the notebook’s contents.
