Abstract
The concept of death occupies a central place in many belief systems. Like other religions, Islam places significant emphasis on this subject. Because of its importance, religious figures direct their attention toward the hereafter and interpret the world from this perspective. Although the idea of death is often perceived as frightening, particularly for Sufis, dying out of love and devotion to God is regarded as a noble aspiration. It brings spiritual fulfillment and represents a symbol of sacrifice and sincere love. Likewise, in literature, poets frequently dwell on the pain and death endured for the sake of the beloved. Self-sacrifice on the path of the beloved constitutes one of the highest ideals, and relinquishing one's own life for the beloved is considered the ultimate expression of devotion. To convey this profound love, poets often speak of renouncing their ego, soul, body, life, and very existence. Like many classical poets, Feqîyê Teyran, the subject of this study, frequently addresses death and self-sacrifice for the beloved in his Dîwan. He employs numerous metaphors and similes to portray different dimensions of death, making this theme one of the most prominent throughout his work. However, this study is limited to selected key concepts and terms through which Feqîyê Teyran's perception of death is examined. The findings demonstrate that Feqîyê Teyran emphasizes fundamental concepts related to death while extensively employing Islamic and Sufi motifs and symbols to articulate his understanding of mortality.
