İzmir’in işgal sürecinde Vali İzzet Bey ile birlikte hareket ederek, 14 Mayıs’ta sadece verilen notalardan Harbiye Nezareti’ni haberdar etmekle yetindi. Paşa, oradan İstanbul’a gitti ve orada askerlik görevi sona erdi.
Abstract
The territories of the Ottoman Empire began to be occupied with the 7th Article of the Armistice of Mudros. These occupations were believed to be temporary invasions carried out by the victors of the war. Therefore, a strong and resolute resistance could not be mobilized against the occupations. The Greeks in and around Izmir had stirred since the armistice process. Nurettin Pasha, as the governor and commander, attempted to thwart these movements. With the dismissal of Nurettin Pasha, Ahmet İzzet Bey (Kambur) was designated as the governor, and shortly after, Ali Nadir Pasha was appointed the Commander of the 17th Army Corps. Ali Nadir Pasha failed to take any effective precautions against the obvious invasion. Acting in concert with Governor İzzet Bey during the occupation process of İzmir, he only settled to inform the Ministry of War of the notes given on 14 May. The Greek soldiers showed their true colors after the first gunfire on May 15, he showed a conceding attitude and succumbed to all kinds of disgrace. Many officers and soldiers of the army corps were martyred on the day of the invasion. The remaining officers and soldiers were detained on steamers and warehouses. When Ali Nadir Pasha, the officers and soldiers were released, the commander of the Greek occupation forces asked them to leave Izmir. The dismissed Pasha, along with officers and soldiers, was sent to Mudanya with a Greek freighter. From there, Pasha went to Istanbul where his military service ended.
