Özet
"Etimolojik yöntem", karşılaştırmalar diğer Anadolu dilleriyle sınırlı olsa bile, Likçe şiirleri anlamak için güvenilir bir araç değildir. Bunları tercüme etme iddiası, geçmişte de gösterildiği gibi, sadece hayali sonuçlar üretebilir. Daha mütevazı bir yöntem, Likya'dan daha sonraki Yunanca yazıtlardaki isimler de dahil olmak üzere Likya içi etimolojileri (ya da basitçe diğer kelimelerle bağlantıları) kullanmaya çalışır.
Abstract
The “etymological method” is not a reliable tool for understanding Lycian poems, even if the comparisons are restricted to other Anatolian languages. Claiming to translate them can produce only fanciful results, as already demonstrated in the past. A more modest method tries to use inner-Lycian etymologies (or simply connections with other words), including names in later Greek inscriptions from Lycia.
