Özet
1848-1876 arasında Veliefendi Basma Fabrikası çalışanlarının ücretlerine odaklanan bu çalışma, Osmanlı ücret tarihinde eksik olan sanayi işçileri ücretlerine katkı yapmayı amaçlamaktadır. Çalışma, söz konusu dönemde fabrikadaki çalışanlar için tutulmuş olan ücret defterlerini kullanarak bir ücret serisi oluşturmaya çalışmıştır. Elde edilen ücret serisi, daha önce tarım ve inşaat sektörleri için üretilmiş olan serilerin ilgili kısımları ile karşılaştırılmıştır. Bulgulara göre, fabrikadaki yevmiyeler dönem içinde reel olarak azalmışken, aylık kazançlar daha fazla mesai pahasına artmıştır. Bu artış ise hem tarım hem de inşaat işçilerinin reel ücret artışlarından düşüktür.
Abstract
This study, which focuses on the wages of Veliefendi Calico Factory’s workers between 1848-1876, aims to contribute to the industrial wages, which are missing part in the Ottoman wage history. The study attempted to create a wage series using the wage ledgers recorded for the workers in the factory during the period in question. The wage series obtained are compared with those previously produced in the agricultural and construction sectors. According to the findings, while the reel daily wages of the workers decreased, monthly wages increased at the cost of more efforts of the workers. This increase was also lower than real wage increases in both agriculture and construction workers.
