Hürriyet Gazetesi’nde (1868-1870) Osmanlı Devleti’nin Temel Meseleleri

Özet

Namık Kemal ve Ziya Paşa’nın müşterek çıkardıkları Hürriyet Gazetesi, edebiyat ve basın tarihi, fikir hareketleri ve sosyal tarih araştırmaları bakımından önem arz eder. Gazetede yer alan hürriyet, adalet, meclis, vergilendirme, eğitim, bürokrasi gibi kavram ve konular; Türk modernleşmesinin temel taşlarını oluşturur. Hürriyet, 1868 – 1870 yılları arasında, nispeten kısa bir süre zarfında varlığını sürdürür. Buna rağmen toplam 100 sayı çıkmış olan gazetenin, Osmanlı’nın temel sorunlarına iyice odaklandığı görülür. Bilhassa Abdülaziz devrini özetler mahiyettedir. Büyük bir devletin yıkılışının arifesini anlatan makaleleri, haberleri ve yorumları ile Hürriyet’in, bugünün sosyal bilimcileri için zengin bir veri havzası içerdiği tartışılmazdır. Bu çalışmada, gazetenin ele aldığı temel meselelerin ve sorunlara önerdiği çözüm tekliflerinin neler olduğu açıklanacak; bahsedilenlerin günümüz için taşıdığı öneme dikkat çekilecektir. Edebiyat biliminin bir işlevinin de toplumu aydınlatmak olduğu düşünüldüğünde, 154 yıl öncesinin aktüelini, tecrübelerini hatırlatmanın, insanımıza bilinç ve ufuk kazandırmak bakımlarından faydalı olacağı öngörülebilir. Abstract

Hürriyet Newspaper, published jointly by Namık Kemal and Ziya Pasha, is important in terms of literature and press history, intellectual movements and social history research. Concepts and issues in the newspaper such as freedom, justice, parliament, taxation, education, bureaucracy; it forms the cornerstones of Turkish modernization. Hürriyet existed for a relatively short period of time between 1868 and 1870. Despite this, it is seen that the newspaper, which has a total of 100 issues, focuses on the basic problems of the Ottoman Empire. In particular, it summarizes the period of Abdulaziz. It is indisputable that Hürriyet contains a rich data base for today's social scientists with its articles, news and comments describing the eve of the collapse of a great state. In this study, it will be explained what the main issues that the newspaper deals with and the solution proposals it offers to the problems; attention will be drawn to the importance of the aforementioned for today. Considering that one of the functions of the science of literature is to enlighten the society, it can be predicted that reminding the current events and experiences of 154 years ago will be beneficial in terms of bringing awareness and horizons to our people. The article serves this purpose.
