THE EFFECT OF DIVIDEND DISTRIBUTION POLICIES ON FIRM VALUE: A RESEARCH ON BIST 30 INDEX

Özet

Günümüzde işletmelerin nihai amacı sadece kar elde etmek değil, aynı zamanda firma değerini maksimum yapmaktır. Firma değeri maksimizasyonu, hem işletmenin hem de işletme ile ilişkisi bulunan kişi ve kuruluşların menfaatine bir durumdur. Türkiye’de son yıllarda borsa işlem hacmi artmış ve bu durum temettü dağıtımı ile firma değeri arasındaki ilişkiyi önemli hale getirmiştir. Çalışmanın amacı, BİST 30 Endeksi’ne kayıtlı işletmelerin kar payı dağıtım politikaları ile firma değeri arasındaki ilişkiyi belirlemektir. İki değişken arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesinde Dumitrescu & Hurlin panel nedensellik testi kullanılmıştır. Çalışmada uygulanan analizler sonucunda; işletmelerin kar payı dağıtım politikaları ile firma değeri arasında herhangi bir ilişkiye rastlanamamıştır. Bu sonuç, Müşteri Etkisi Teorisi’nin BİST 30 Endeksi’ne kayıtlı firmalar için geçerli olduğunu göstermektedir.

Abstract

Today, the ultimate goal of businesses is not only to profit, but also to maximize firm value. Firm value maximization is a situation that is in the interests of both the business and the individuals and organizations associated with the business. In recent years, stock trading volume in Turkey has increased and this situation has increased the importance of the relationship between dividend distribution and firm value. The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between dividend distribution and firm value of business registered in BIST 30 Index. The Dumitrescu & Hurlin panel causality test has been used to examine the relationship between the two variables. As a result of the analysis carried out in the study, a relation between dividend policy and firm value has not been found.
