Abstract
Studying political theory in action is an ambitious intellectual endeavor, and Begum Adalet’s Hotels and Highways: The Construction of Modernization Theory in Cold War Turkey undertakesand overcomes such a challenge. In that regard, this book is a forceful critique of modernization theory, which played a crucial role in American efforts during the Cold War era to disseminate American values, experts, and commodities to various parts of the globe, including Turkey.
