Çorum Bayat İlçesinin Osmanlı ve Cumhuriyet Dönemindeki İdari Durumu

Özet

Bayat, günümüzde Çorum’un bir ilçesidir ve bölgenin en eski yerleşim yerlerindendir. 1530 ve 1576 yıllarına ait tapu defterleri ile çeşitli Osmanlı belgelerinde ismi bazen Bayat bazen de Bayat Divanı olarak anılır. 1800’lerin başlarında Bayat İskilip’e bağlı bir nahiyedir. Fakat bu çok uzun sürmez. Kastamonu ve Ankara salnamelerinde Bayat İskilip'e bağlı köy olarak geçer. XIX. yüzyıla ait belgeler bölgenin idari taksimatının birkaç kez değiştiğini göstermektedir. 1911 yılında nahiye olmasına karar verilir ve Alagöz ismiyle nahiye yapılır. Son zamanlarda Bahaeddin (Nahadan) olarak anılan Bayat’a bir de Alagöz ismi eklenmiş olur. Böylece Bayat, Bahaeddin ve Alagöz sözcükleri bölgeyi isimlendirmek için kullanılır. Tarihi üzerine kapsamlı bir çalışma yapılmamış olan Bayat yöresinin Osmanlı ve Cumhuriyet dönemindeki idari durumunun gözler önüne serilmesi amaçlanmaktadır. Çalışmada; Bayat’ın Osmanlı öncesi tarihine kısaca temas edildikten sonra ayrıntılı bir şekilde Osmanlı dönemi durumu, hangi boy ve aşiretlerin buralara yerleştiği, Cumhuriyet yıllarında bölgedeki gelişmeler ele alınmıştır.

Abstract

It is necessary to build a solid future to know the history of the nations that shows common characteristics and values of them. Nations exist with their memories like human beings and take firm steps forward. As the human beings who can’t form their future without remembering their history, the nations which don’t know and give enough importance to their history cant’t find solutions to today’s issues or can’t form their future.Bayat, today, is a district of Çorum and one of the oldest settlements in the area. It was sometimes called Bayat or Bayat Divanı in some of the Ottoman documents and land registries belonging to the years between 1530 and 1576. In the beginnings of 1800s, Bayat was a sub-district of Iskilip but it didn’t take too long. In Kastamonu and Ankara annuals, Bayat was written as a village of Iskilip. Documents of 19th century shows that the administrative divisions changed several times. Bayat was decided to be a sub-district in 1911 and was named as Alagöz. Thus, along with Bahaeddin (Nahadan), Bayat and Alagöz were used to name the area. It is aimed to give light to the administrative situation of Bayat in Ottoman and Republice Periods. In this study, the pre-Ottoman history of Bayat is touched briefly and then detailed information are given about the situation of Bayat in Ottoman period, settled phratries and tribes in Bayat and the developments in the Republic period.
