Abstract
Objectives: This study was carried out with the aim of determining the stress levels of the second year students of the nursing department taking Internal Medicine Nursing course. Methods: The sample of the descriptive study consisted of 159 second year students in the nursing department of a state university in the fall term of 2016-2017 academic year. Data were collected using "Student Information Form" and "Nursing Education Stress Scale". Percentage, mean, t test, Mann Whitney U and one way analysis of variance tests were used in the evaluation of the data. Results: The stress level of students were above the middle general stress (65.55 ± 13.29), application stress (32.0 ± 7.50) and academic stress (34.5 ± 7.00). General stress, application stress and academic stress significantly affected by the gender; the leisure time evaluation significantly affected general stress and application stress level (p < .05). Conclusion: Second-year students who take Internal Medicine Nursing course experience stress over medium level. In nursing education the stress levels of the students should be reduced and plans should be made to facilitate both academic and clinical learning.
