Abstract

The usual tafsir lessons, which were made as a continuation of the Muhadarâ culture in the Ottoman Empire, were tied to certain rules by Sultan III. Mustafa in 1172/1759 and became an official and continuous practice of the state. Huzûr-u Hümayûn or Huzûr Courses was called as the high science courses formed with the invitation of famous scholars residing in Istanbul. In these lessons built in the presence of the Sultan, scholars who came to Istanbul from different regions of Anatolia and Ottoman geography were found in scholarly evaluations, and the lessons were negotiated in a manner that was well thought out. The scholars who came from various provinces of the Ottoman geography and settled in Istanbul continued to carry the nomads of their countries; the books in which the names of the participants of the classes are written are recorded in this way. In this study, attempts were made to identify Karsian scholars who have Karsî cadres from the records of the names of the participants. It has been determined in which years the determined scholars entered which classes and how often. By establishing the Karsian scholars participating in the Huzur Courses, which is considered as the most prestigious scholarly conversation circle in the Ottoman Empire, a consensus on the recognition of Kars and Karsian scholars in the scientific life of that period will be ensured.
