Abstract
With its culture and civilization, the Ottoman Empire, which spread across three continents with its multicultural structure, entered a period of decline from the 17th century, leaving behind a period of ascension. In the same period, the growing movement of ideas in Europe and the subsequent economic exploits began to show political effects. The thought that the regression in the Ottoman Empire could be stopped by following Europe was accepted, and for this reason reform movements were attempted and under the name of westernization, innovations in every field were desired to be carried out, with architecture affected by this event. European architecture was closely followed and its construction systems took effect in the Ottoman empire and in the capital city of Istanbul in particular, through means of foreign architects. The general structure and architectural environment of the era, the multicultural structure and the architectural development of the Pera region of Istanbul where westernization and transformation were experienced the fastest are examined in the study. The process of building the German embassy building, which is an important structure of the era within the scope of the Turkish-German relations that draw closer and will later be transformed into an alliance, and the architectural and interior architectural characteristics of the palace are examined.
