Sıvıların Özellikleri Konusunun Bağlam Temelli Yaklaşımla Öğretiminin Öğrenci Başarısı Üzerindeki Etkisi

Özet
Bu araştırmanın amacı, sıvıların özellikleri konusunda bağlam temelli yaklaşıma dayalı olarak gerçekleştirilen öğretimin öğrenci başarısı üzerindeki etkisini belirlemektir. Araştırmada, yarı deneysel yöntem kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemi, 9. sınıfta öğrenim gören toplam 53 öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Veri toplama aracı olarak iki aşamalı “Sıvıların Özellikleri Testi” ve anket kullanılmıştır. Testten elde edilen verilere kovaryans analizi yapılmıştır. Analiz sonucunda deney ve kontrol grubunun son test ortalamaları arasındaki fark, istatistiksel olarak deney grubu lehine anlamlı olduğu belirlenmiştir (F(1;50)= 20,275; p
Abstract
The aim of this study was to determine effect of teaching of topic of properties of liquids based on context based approach on students’ achievement. In this study, quasi-experimental design was used. The research sample consists of a total of 53 students in the 9th grade. A two-tier “Properties of Liquids Test” and a questionnaire were used to collect the data. Covariance analysis was performed on data obtained from testing. It was determined that there was statistically significant between experiment and control groups mean difference in the post-test scores in favour of the experiment group (F(1;50)=4,118; p=0,048). The experimental group students’ ideas about the implementation process; We were not bored in lessons", "lessons were more comprehensible, interesting and fun". The control group students said that the process was not very different from other courses; sometimes they get bored and became disinterested from the course. The results show that the context based approach has contributed in increasing students’ achievement and interest towards chemistry. Some suggestions have been made based on the results.
