Abstract
Despite the advances in cancer treatment, a large proportion of patients are lost due to recurrence of the disease and not responding to treatment. Palliative care is the active, total care of patients with no response to remedial therapies and includes medical care for physical, psychosocial and spiritual issues. It focuses on strengthening the quality of life of children and parents. While this concept was first established in the 1960s with the development and development of care homes called "hospices" these approaches started in the 1980s. Nurses have important roles and responsibilities in managing the disease, controlling symptoms, supporting the family during the disease and grieving process. Health professionals and especially nurses working with children are very important to know and practice the basic principles of palliative care. This review aims to discuss the historical development process, principles and nursing care of palliative/pediatric palliative care.
