Abstract

In Mexico connecting the stories of Chinese immigration throughout the country has been of particular interest but not for exploring their transnational experience from below. This article looks at the historical discontinuities of crafting the identities of being Chino a -Mexicano a through the exploration of Don Federico Chilián’s transnationalism. By doing so we aim to explore the fluidity in constructing the Chinese transnational experience, and the shifting relations of being local and transnational.2
