Özet

Heterotopik ossifikasyon normalde kemikleşmenin olmadığı kas gibi dokularda yeni kemik dokusunun oluşmasıdır. Oldukça geniş bir yelpazeye sahip olan nedenler arasında nörojenik, travmatik ve konjenital sebepler sıralanabilir. Prognozu etkileyen en önemli faktör uzamış immobilizasyondur. Çoklu sorunları nedeniyle immobil hastaların en sık başvurdukları bölümler arasında acil servisler önemli yer tutmaktadır. Bu yazıda uzun süre yoğun bakımda tedavi gören bir hastada immobilizasyona bağlı gelişen heterotopik ossifikasyon literatür eşliğinde sunulmuştur. İmmobilizasyon hikayesi olan hastalarda eklem, ekstremite ağrı ve hareket kısıtlılığı varlığında, heterotopik ossifikasyon olasılığıda düşünülmelidir.

Abstract

Heterotrophic ossification is the development of bone in abnormal areas like muscle tissue. Neurogenic, traumatic and congenital are just a few of the causes which vary a lot. The most significant factor affecting prognosis is prolonged immobilization. Emergency departments are places where immobile patients most frequently apply due to their varied complaints. In this report we presented an immobile patient with heterotrophic ossification and reviewed the literature. Heterotrophic ossification should be taken into consideration while assessing the possible causes of the complaints such as joint or extremity pain, restriction of movement in patients with immobilization.
