Melatonin (N-acetyl-5-methoxytryptamine) pineal bezden salgılanan ve triptofandan üretilen bir nörohümoral hormondur. Eksojen formulasyonu uyku bozukluklarında ve Jet lag (insanda 24 saatlik biyolojik etkinlik çevriminin ani değişmeler nedeniyle uğradığı geçici değişiklik ve düzensizlik) tedavisinde kullanılır. Melatonin, also known chemically as N-acetyl-5-methoxytryptamine, is produced in the pineal gland from the precursor tryptophan and secreted into the blood.
