Özet

Bu çalışmada 1891 yılında Osmanlı Devleti sınırına yakın İran sınırları içinde Savuçbulak şehrinde ticaretle uğraşan bir İngiliz ailenin kızı Katy Greenfield'in Mirza Aziz isminde İran vatandaşı bir Kürt tarafından kaçırılıp Osmanlı şehbenderliğine sığınması ve sonrasında gelişen olaylar anlatılmaktadır. Bölgede bulunan aşiretler açısından geçişken bir yapıya sahip olan Osmanlı-İran sınırında bu tür olaylar sık yaşanmakla birlikte bu olay Osmanlı şehbenderhanesini içine alınca iki devlet de bu olaya doğrudan müdahil olmak zorunda kalmıştır. Osmanlı kaynaklarına göre kadın İran mahkemesinde bunu ikrar ederek Müslüman olmuş ve Mirza Aziz'le evlenmiştir. Fakat annesi ve bölgede bulunan İngiliz konsolos durumu kabullenmeyerek kızın mahkemeye tekrar çıkarılmasını istemiştir. Genç kız mahkemeye tekrar çıkarılmak üzere Tebriz'e götürüldüğü sırada yol üzerinde bulunan Savuçbulak Osmanlı şehbenderliğine sığınmıştır. Genç kızın Osmanlı şehbenderhanesine sığınması sonrasında İngiliz gazeteleri dolayısıyla kamuoyunun olaya yoğun ilgi göstermesi sebebiyle İngiltere hükümeti İran ve Osmanlı hükümetleri üzerinde baskı kurarak Katy'nin annesine teslim edilmesini istemiştir. Bölgede bulunan Osmanlı şehbenderlerinin mücadelesi ve Kürt aşiretlerinin genç kadını vermemek için gösterdikleri mukavemet üzerine süreç uzamış fakat en nihayetinde Katy Greenfield mahkemeye ikinci kez çıkarılıp sorgulanmıştır. Katy Greenfield, birinci mahkemedeki gibi Müslüman olduğunu ve Mirza Aziz'le evleneceğini beyan etmiştir. İngiliz konsolos ve kızın annesi gönülsüz olmalarına karşın Katy Mirza Aziz'e teslim edilmiştir.

Abstract

In this study, taking refugee of a young British women named Katy Greenfield, who was kidnapped by a Kurdish Iranian citizen named Mirza Aziz in the city of Savuçbulak within the borders of Iran near the Ottoman Empire border in 1891, to the Consulate of Ottoman State and the events that followed will be told. Although such incidents were common on the Ottoman-Iranian border, which has a complex structure in terms of tribes in the region, both states had to be directly involved in this case as it has included the Ottoman consulate. The daughter of an British family engaged in commerce in the region, Katy Greenfield, was kidnapped by Mirza Aziz. According to Ottoman sources, the woman confessed it in the Iranian court and became a Muslim and married Mirza Aziz. However, her mother and the British consul in the region refused to accept the situation and demanded her to be taken to court again. When the young girl was taken to Tabriz for trial, she took refuge in Consulate of Ottoman in Savuçbulak. Following the young girl took refuge in the Ottoman consulate, the British government put pressure on the Iranian and Ottoman governments and demanded that the woman be handed over to her mother because of the public interest in the British newspapers to the case. The process was prolonged due to the efforts of the Ottoman consuls in the region and the resistance of the Kurdish tribes not to turn the young woman, however Katy Greenfield was taken to the court and questioned for the second time at the end. Katy Greenfield stated that she became a Muslim and would marry Mirza Aziz as in the first court. Although the British consul and her mother were reluctant, Katy turned back to Mirza Aziz.
