Abstract
This research was conducted to assess the knowledge of vulva health of the first and fourth year students at the nursing school of a university. This is a descriptive study. The population of the study consisted of 165 first and fourth year nursing students in a university. The study was conducted on 146 students. The data were collected by using a questionnaire. Percentage calculations and chi-square tests were used in the statistical analysis of the data. In this study, it was found out that the fourth year students had much more knowledge of vulva health than the first year students. The percentage of the students who knew the characteristics of normal vaginal discharge was 24.6% in the first year students whereas it was 100.0% in the fourth year students. The percentage of those who knew the characteristics of abnormal vaginal discharge was 28.1% in the first year students. A good number of fourth year students had less knowledge about the subjects of vulva health such as frequency of changing underclothes (65.2%), method of washing underclothes (57.3%) and frequency of changing hygienic female pad (87.6%) than expected.
