Abstract
The Qur'an has been the focus of attention of commentators and rhetoric scholars in every century with its language and style. This interest has always been kept alive with the works focusing on the language and stylistic subtleties of the Qur'an since the revelation period. Qat’ style that forms a basis for solecism (lahn) claims of some orientalists but often used by the first interlocutors of the Qur'an in poetry and prose and known as “qat‘u’t-tâbi‘ ‘ani’l-metbû (tâbi‘–metbû‘ incompatibility)” in the eloquence and syntax books has been discussed in this study. In order to limit the subject, this style has been analyzed in the context of adjective – defined (qat‘u’t-na‘t ‘ani’l-men‘ût) incompatibility. Arabs for various reasons; used this style either to draw the attention of the interlocutor to the maqtû adjective or to reinforce the adjective of mevsûf (defined). It is seen that this style, which Arabs used as madih, zem and tarahhum style in poetry and prose, was used for the same purpose in the Qur'an. In this study, which aims to get to know the language and text structure of the Qur'an and to understand the divine message correctly, qat’ style has been considered in detailds; and the subject has been tried to be clarified with examples from the Qur'an and Arabic poetry.
