Abstract
In this research, it was aimed to develop a value perception scale in order to determine the value perceptions of the 6th graders toward mathematics lessons. 16 items were included in the scale and expert opinions were obtained in order to determine whether they measured the clarity and desired characteristics of these items. The revised Mathematical Practices Lesson Value Perception Scale (MPLVPS) was implemented to 214 sixth grade students who had formerly taken this lesson in a middle school in Çanakkale city center. Validity and reliability studies were performed using the obtained data. Exploratory factor analysis was carried out to reveal the validity of the structure of the scale and confirmatory factor analysis was performed to confirm the factor structure obtained by this analysis. As a result of the analyses, a three factor structure consisting of 16 items scale was obtained and it was determined that the fit indices were at a good level. Analyses have shown that the scale is a valid and reliable instrument to measure the value perceptions of Mathematics Practices Lesson for 6th grade students.
