Abstract

In this study, total fish production with economical values, marketing, amounts and species of fish catching, methods of fishing applied, nets used by 7 fishing cooperatives in Ova region of Keban Dam Lake was investigated, during a fishing season 1995-1996. According to the results, it was determined that tifana type of multiflament trammel nets and monoflament gill nets were used from fishing gears. Two different fishing have been carried out with these nets used in Ova region of Keban Dam Lake. It was observed that trammel nets were commonly used at the beginning of fishing season but gill nets were used together with trammel nets in the middle of fishing season. Fish species caught in cooperatives in Ova region, Capoeta trutta was most common species (%50.01) at the beginning of season, but Chalcalburnus mossulensis was common species (%66.38 and %74.60) in the middle of and of the season. During a fishing season, 720 tons/year fish have been caught with trammel nets and gill nets used by 7 fishing cooperatives.
