Abstract

Today, new urban planning approches have come into agenda in the perspective of sustainability in parallel to the fact that industrialization, rapid urbanization, misuse of land, excessive consumption of natural resources, human habitats have reached to the extent of threatening the other life areas. The common point of these approaches developed by different disciplines is not in the form of returning of the urban dwellers to the countryside and the shrinking of cities. On the contrary, due to the urban lifestyle, the area surrounding it has been destroyed, instead of moving this process to different locations, opinions in the form of protecting the rest of the nature and building cities focused on ecolocy have emerged. Accordingly, the approach of the cities spread out in the location and the classical urban planning must be radically changed. For this, the idea of creating "environmentally friendly" cities which meet their own consumption with their own production, self-sufficient, and that the concept of spreading out any more to the surrounding areas has been abandoned is being discussed. The phenomenon of ecological city which is one the approaches being discussed is urban design and application approach in which the city and the environment are handled in interaction with each other
