Özet

Araştırmada, Kapadokya Bölgesi’nin tercih edilmesinde sosyal medyanın etkisinin ölçülmesi amaçlanmıştır. Kapadokya Bölgesi’ne gelen 175’i yerli, 175’i yabancı olmak üzere toplam 350 turistten yüz yüze anket uygulamasıyla elde edilen veriler analiz edilmiştir.

Abstract

The increase in the use of virtual marketing networks and connected virtual platforms has begun to directly affect the purchasing behavior of touristic consumers, as in all other sectors. In this context, it is considered that researching the effect of technology-based virtual platforms in the preference of touristic products and destinations can make significant contributions to the literature. The aim of this study is to measure the effect of social media in the preference of the Cappadocia Region. The data obtained by face-to-face survey application from a total of 350 tourists, 175 domestic and 175 foreigners, who visited the Cappadocia Region, were analyzed. In testing the research hypotheses, regression analysis, frequency distributions and means, and independent sample t-test were used. According to the findings of the research; it has been determined that social media has an effect on the destination preference process. In addition; It has been determined that there are differences between domestic and foreign tourists who prefer the Cappadocia Region for all demographic characteristics except education and occupation. Destination preference differences were observed in travel characteristics, daily spent time in social media, and the most frequently used social media tools. It is observed that traditional marketing tools have been replaced by technological equipment in tourism. In tourism marketing, which is transformed by technology and has to become increasingly transparent, the stakeholders benefiting from the market share are increasing day by day. For this reason, considering the effect of technology-based virtual platforms in the preference of touristic products and destinations, theoretically and practically, will make important contributions to the relevant literature. This study is thought to be useful both in terms of expressing the place and importance of the use of social media in destination marketing and in guiding future research on the Cappadocia Region.
