Özet

Abstract

A two aged, female, Green Iguana, with a weight of 475 g and a length of 84 cm was sent from the Bursa zoo to the Surgery Clinic of the Veterinary Faculty of the Uludağ University. During clinical examination colon and cloacal prolapsus with intestinal invagination and necrosis was observed, and surgical treatment with intestinal resection without cheliotomy was decided.Intestinal resection was successfully performed and the Iguana could eat, drink and defecate normally postoperative in two days. The Iguana recovered completely following surgery. No complications occurred during the postoperative period. The Iguana died due to Citrobacter spp. and Streptococcus spp. infection four month following recovery. As a result, it was suggested that, intestinal resection in cases with necrotic colon and cloacal prolapsus complicated with intestinal invagination, could be a radical treatment method.
