Problems and solutions in achieving learning outcomes of the 4th grade social studies curriculum

Özet

Bu araştırmanın amacı, sınıf öğretmenlerinin görüşleri doğrultusunda 4. sınıf sosyal bilgiler öğretim programında ulaşılması konusunda sorun yaşanan kazanımları belirlemek ve bu kazanımlara ulaşmada yaşanan sorunları ortaya çıkarmaktır. Araştırma karma araştırma yöntemi kullanılarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu kapsamda önce sınıf öğretmenlerine anket uygulanmış, daha sonra yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen bulgular ışığında sınıf öğretmenlerinin “Kendisini farklı özelliklere sahip diğer bireylerin yerine koyar.”, “Çevresindeki herhangi bir yerin konumu ile ilgili çıkarımlarda bulunur.”, “Kullandığı teknolojik ürünlerin mucitlerini ve bu ürünlerin zaman içerisindeki gelişimini araştırır.”, “Çevresindeki ihtiyaçlardan yola çıkarak kendine özgü ürünler tasarlamaya yönelik fikirler geliştirir.”, ve “Çevresindeki kaynakları israf etmeden kullanır.” kazanımlarında sorun yaşadıkları ortaya çıkmıştır.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the outcomes in which problems wereencountered in terms of achievement and reveal these problems experienced insocial studies instruction based on elementary school teachers’ views. The study wasdesigned in accordance with the mixed research method. A questionnaire was firstlyadministered to the elementary school teachers, and then semi-structuredinterviews were conducted. In the light of the findings, it was revealed thatelementary school teachers experienced problems regarding certain courseoutcomes. These outcomes included: “Students put themselves into the shoes ofother individuals who have different characteristics.”, “Students make inferencesabout the location of a place in their environment.”, “Students do research aboutthe inventors of the technological products they use and the development of theseproducts in the course of time.”, “Students generate ideas for designing uniqueproducts based on the needs in their environment.” and “Students use the resourcesaround them without wasting.”
