Since Afyonkarahisar is located at a place where the roads meet, it has attracted people. It was a vital trade center in the Seljuki period. At the end of the XVII. century long wars between Ottoman State and Austria-Hungaria have affected the social life in Afyonkarahisar. Due to the preparations for the war, some taxes were imposed on the people of the city. Some unrests appeared in the socio-economic life.
