Özet

HIV/AIDS ile ilişkili stigma ve ayrımcılık önemli bir halk sağlığı sorunu olan HIV/AIDS ile mücadelede bariyer olmaya devam etmektedir. Bu amaçla, üniversite araştırma hastanelerinde çalışan yardımcı personelin ve sağlık bilimleri fakültesi öğrencilerin HIV/AIDS hastalarına yönelik tutum, davranış ve yaklaşımları incelemektedir. Tanımlayıcı tasarıma sahip bu araştırma, hastanede çalışan yardımcı sağlık-dışı personel ve sağlık bilimleri fakültesinde okuyan öğrencilerden oluşmaktadır. Yöntem: Tanımlayıcı özellikler formu ve AIDS ile ilişkili stigma ölçeğinden oluşmaktadır. Bulgular: Bu çalışmanın örneklemi %57.1(451)’i üniversite öğrencileri ve %42.9(339)’u hastanede çalışan sağlık-dışı yardımcı personeller olmak üzere toplam 790 kişiden oluşmaktadır. Hastane çalışanları ile öğrenci grubunun AIDS ile ilişkili stigma ölçeği toplam puan ortalaması arasında anlamlı ilişki bulunamadı(p>.05). Katılımcıların yardımcı personel ve öğrenci olma durumu ile AIDS hastalarının çalışma hayatından izole edilmesi, toplumdan izole edilmesi, arkadaşlık kurmayı istememe, AIDS hastalarının yaşamlarında yaptıkları yanlış bir şeyden dolayı AIDS hastalığına yakalandığından cezalandırılmayı hak ettiği, yönünde ki yaklaşımlar arasında anlamlı ilişki bulundu(p

Abstract

Objective: Stigma and discrimination remain a barier to combating HIV/AIDS which has become an important public health problem. Thus, the aim of this study is to examine the attitudes, behaviors and approaches of the auxiliary staff working in university research hospitals and the students of the Faculty of Health Sciences towards HIV/AIDS patients. Method: This descriptive study consists of the auxiliary staff working in the hospitals, and students studying at the faculty of health sciences. It consists of the descriptive features form and the AIDS- related stigma scale. Results: The sample of this study consists of a total of 790 people, 57.1% (451) of whom were university students and 42.9% (339) of them were non-health auxiliary staff working in the hospital. No significant correlation was found between the average of AIDS-related stigma scale total score and the hospital staff and the student group (p> .05). A significant correlation was found between the fact that participants' being auxiliary staff and students and the approaches suggesting the isolation of AIDS patients from work life, from the society, not to make friends with HIV/AIDS patients, and that AIDS patients deserve to be punished for suffering from AIDS because of something wrong they did in their lives (p
