Özet

Bu çalışma ile geleceğin polis amirlerini yetiştiren Polis Akademisi öğretim görevlilerinin iş doyumunu etkileyen etkenlerin belirlenmesi amaçlanmaktadır. Öğrencilerle muhatap olan öğretim görevlileri, çeşitli sebeplere bağlı bir takım sorunlar yaşayabilirler. Bu sorunlar geniş kitleleri olumsuz yönde etkileyebilir. Bu nedenle polis amirlerinin eğitiminde rol oynayan öğretim görevlilerinin iş doyum düzeylerinin tespit edilip gerekli önlemler alınmasının ve hayata geçirilmesinin ülkenin geleceği açısından hayati bir önem taşıdığı söylenebilir. Ayrıca bu örneklem grubu üzerinde daha önce böyle bir araştırmaya rastlanılmadığından ayrı bir önem arz etmektedir. Bu çalışmaya 2012 yılında Polis Akademisi'nde çalışan 37 öğretim görevlisi katılmıştır. Öğretim görevlilerinin iş doyumu "Minnesota İş Doyumu Ölçeği" kullanılarak ölçülmüştür. İş doyumu düzeyinin, katılımcıların, yaş, medeni durum, öğrenim durumu, mesleki kıdem, alınan ödül (takdir ve taltif), branş, okulun spor tesisi ve malzeme açısından yeterliliği, dersle ilgili gelişmeleri takip edebilme ve ekonomik durumlarını algılama gibi özelliklere bağlı olarak nasıl farklılaştığı araştırılmıştır. Verilerin analiz için Mann Whitney U Testi ve Kruskal Wallis H Testi uygulanmıştır. Yapılan analizler sonucunda, ileri yaş grubundaki öğretim görevlilerinin genç yaş grubundakilere kıyasla, evli olanların bekarlara oranla, daha yüksek mesleki kıdeme sahip olanların ve okulun spor tesisi ve malzeme açısından yeterli olduğunu düşünenlerin böyle olduğunu düşünmeyenlere göre daha yüksek iş doyumu düzeyine sahip oldukları tespit edilmiştir. Öğrenim durumu ile alınan ödül ve branşa göre farklılıkların iş doyumu üzerine herhangi bir etkisi saptanmamıştır

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore factors associated with the job satisfaction of the lecturers at the Turkish National Police Academy. Lecturers might experience problems with their students for a variety of reasons. This in turn might adversely affect the whole society in the long term, as police academy lecturers are responsible for the education and training of the future police administrators. This study is unique in terms of studying lecturers’ job satisfaction in the context of the Turkish Police Academy. The survey was administered to 37 lecturers during the year of 2012. Lecturers’ job satisfaction was measured using the Minnesota Job Satisfaction Scale. The variation in lecturers’ job satisfaction was examined with regard to individual characteristics and opinions such as age, marital status, education, seniority, awards received, subject field, perception about the adequacy of sports facilities at school, perception about the ability to keep pace with the developments in the subject field, and perception about oneself economic prosperity. Mann Withney U-Test and Kruskal Wallis H-Test were used to analyze the data. According to the findings, job satisfaction is higher among the older age group, among the married, for those with greater seniority and among those who believe that school’s sports facilities are adequate. Education and awards received didn’t have any statistically significant relationship with job satisfaction
