Özet

Özet: Bu çalışma, işletmelerin nakit dönüşüm sürelerinin (NDS) karlılıkları üzerine herhangi bir etkisi olup olmadığını sektörel boyutta araştırmaktır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda İMKB'de üretim ve ticaret sektörlerindeki işletmeler gruplandırılmış, NDS'leri ve karlılık oranları hesaplanmıştır. Panel veri analiziyle 1988-2008 yılları arasında NDS ile karlılık arasında sektörel boyutta bir ilişkinin olup olmadığı incelenmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda, NDS ile karlılık arasında ters yönlü bir ilişki bulunmuştur. NDS'nin en çok etkilediği karlılık değişkeni brüt karlılıktır. NDS'deki kısalmanın karlılığa en çok etki yaptığı sektörler ise otel-lokanta ve mobilya sektörüdür. Bu etki otel-lokanta sektöründe diğer sektörlere göre iki kat daha yüksek, mobilya sektöründe ise diğer sektörlere göre daha düşüktür.

Abstract

Abstract: This paper examines the effect of cash conversion cycle (CCC) of the businesses on their profitability in the sector base. According to this objective, businesses of the production and trade sectors of ISE have grouped, and their profitability ratios and CCCs have calculated. The relationship has analyzed within the sector base between CCC and profitability using panel regression for the period 1988-2008. According to the findings, a negative relationship between CCC and profitability has been determined. The profitability ratio which CCC mostly affects is the gross profit margin. The sectors which the decrease in CCC mostly affects to profitability are hotel-restaurant and furniture sectors. This effect doubles in hotel-restaurant sector, and decreases in the furniture sector when compared to the other sectors.
