Abstract

Objective: To compare the biomechanical parameters of patients with pellucid marginal degeneration (PMD), keratoconus (KC) and of healthy subjects. Material and Method: In this study, 24 eyes of 12 patients with PMD (group 1), 24 eyes of 12 patients with KC (group 2) and 24 eyes of 12 healthy subjects (control group) were included. Corneal hysteresis (CH) and corneal resistance factor (CRF) were measured with Ocular Response Analyzer. The correlation between the central corneal thickness (CCT) values measured with the Sirius topography syste m and the CH and CRF values were also investigated. Results: The mean CH was 7.2 ± 1.1 mmHg in group 1, 7,9±1,0 mmHg in group 2, and 10.6 ±0.6 mmHg in the control group. The mean CRF was 6.9±1.3 mmHg in group 1, 7.1±1.2 mmHg in group 2, and 10.5±1.1 mmHg in the control group. The mean CH and CRF did not show any statistically significant difference between group 1 and group 2 (for all variables p>0,05). The mean CH and CRF were statistically significantly lower in group 1 and group 2 when both groups were compared to the control group (for all variables p
