Özet

Rusya’nın öteden beri Karadeniz üzerinden sıcak denizlere ulaşma hedefi olduğu bilinmektedir. Buhedefe doğru ilk planlı harekât Çar I. Petro döneminde olmuştur. Osmanlı Devleti, II.Viyanasavaşını takip eden yıllarda geniş cephelerde mücadelesini sürdürürken Rusya’nın ani olarak Azakkuşatması gerçekleşmiştir. Osmanlı askerinin ekseriyeti Avusturya cephesinde olduğu için burayayeterli kuvvet göndermesi zaten beklenemezdi. Nitekim Rusya, Karadeniz’de büyük öneme sahipolan Azak Kalesi’ni 1696 yılında almıştır. Rusya, Karadeniz’e inerse Osmanlı Devleti için ciddi birtehdit haline gelmiş olacaktı. Bunu fark eden Osmanlı Devleti’nin ilk hedefi Rusları, AzakDenizi’nde hapsetmeye çalışmak olmuştur. Bu amaçla Kırım ve Taman yarımadalarında bulunankalelerin bakım ve onarımını yapmış ve kaleleri askerî açıdan takviye etmiştir. Bunlara ilaveolarak da Kerç Boğazı’nı ve Taman Yarımadası’nı kontrol altına alabilmek için stratejik noktalarayeni kaleler inşa etmiştir. Söz konusu kalelerden birisi de Açu Kalesi’dir. Bu çalışmada Azak’ınelden çıkması ile birlikte 1697 yılında yapılan Açu Kalesi’nin stratejik önemi, inşaatı, 1711 yılınakadar olan bakım-onarım faaliyetleri ve kalede bulunan askerî kuvvetlerin durumu ele alınacaktır.Buna ilave olarak Azak Denizi’nden Kuban Nehri’ne geçişlerin kapatılmasının Rus tehdidineetkileri değerlendirilecektir. Nitekim Açu Kalesi’nin yapılmasıyla Kuban Nehri üzerinden TamanYarımadası’na geçişlerin mani olunduğu görülecektir.

Abstract

It is known that Russia has long been the target of reaching warm seas through the Black Sea. Forthe first time, a planned operation was made during the Tsar I.Petro era. In the years following theSecond Siege Of Vienna, the Ottomans continued to struggle on various fronts. Since the majorityof the Ottoman soldiers were on the Austrian front, it could not be expected to send enough forceshere. As a matter of fact, in 1696 Russia took the fortress of Azov which was at a very strategicpoint in the Black Sea. Russia reaches on the Black Sea, it would become a serious threat for theOttomans. The first target of the Ottomans, who understood this reality very well, tried torestricted he Russians in the Azov ea. For this purpose, the fortresses in the Crimea and Tamanpeninsula maintenanced and repaired. Also fortresses have been reinforced. In additionly,Ottomans have built new fortresses at strategic points in order to control the Kerch Strait. One ofthese strongholds was the fortress of Acu. In this paper, the strategic importance of the fortress ofAçu in 1697, the repair and maintenance activities of the castle until 1711 and the state of themilitary forces in the castle will be examined. Additionally , the effects of closing the passages fromthe Sea of Azov to the Kuban River on the Russian menace will be perused. Hence, with theconstruction of the Acu Castle it will be seen that the passage to the Taman Peninsula from theKuban River was prevented.
