Abstract
Turkey, which passed through multi-party life the elections of 1946, has reached the right to choose between multiple parties. Many different political parties have been established in this political system, in which the CHP and DP represent two main groups. However, the ruling and opposition groups were heavily represented by these two parties. Between 1946 and 1960, the people showed their side and tendency through elections in the framework of democratic principles.Turkey, which had undergone three elections to 1957 from the 1946 elections, entered these elections in a very nervous political atmosphere. Domestic and foreign political events were used as election propaganda tools in this period that the tension increased between ruling and the opposition. On the other hand, the parties and the public reacted to the increasingly anti-democratic practices of the DP. The election of 1957, entered in this atmosphere, resulted in victory of DP in spite of DP's votes were dropped. Maras, one of the 23 provinces that DP lost in these elections, preferred the CHP. In this paper that examines the voting tendency of Maraş, who moved back to the CHP after the 1946 elections, aims to reveal the causes of this change
