Özet

Baykan Sezer, sosyolojinin Avrupa merkezli bir bilim olduğunu kabul etmekte, fakat sosyolojinin Türk sosyologları tarafından Avrupai tarzda taklit edilmesini eleştirmektedir. Zira Avrupalı sosyologlar tarafından yapılan çalışmalarda Hıristiyan merkezli bir anlayışa sahiptir. Ona göre nüfusunun büyük bir kısmı Müslüman olan Türk toplumu için Avrupalı sosyologları taklit ederek yapılan çalışmalar hiçbir fayda salamayacaktır. Çalışmamızda Türk sosyolojine ve din-toplum ilişkisine özgün bir bakış açısı kazandıran Sezer’in din, toplum ve metodolojisi ele alınmış ve değerlendirilmiştir. Bu amaçla doküman inceleme yöntemi kullanılmış ve Sezer’in, özellikle din sosyolojisi alanında yaptığı çalışmaları ve diğer eserleri, devamında da Sezer ile ilgili yapılmış olan çalışmalar içerik çözümlemesi yapılarak incelemiştir.

Abstract

Baykan Sezer accepts that sociology is a Eurocentric science, but he criticizes the imitation of the European sociology by Turkish sociologists, because the studies carried out by European sociologists have Christian-centered tendencies. According to Sezer, studies carried out by imitating the European sociologists will not provide any benefits to the Turkish society, whose population is predominantly Muslim. In our study, the religion, society and methodology of Native Sociologist Baykan Sezer, who brought a unique perspective to Turkish sociology and the religion-society relationship, were discussed and evaluated. For this purpose, the document analysis method was used and Sezer's studies and other works, especially in the field of sociology of religion, were examined.
