Analysis of Trauma Cases Admitted to the Emergency Department

Özet
Amaç: Travmalar dünyada, özellikle genç nüfusu etkileyen ciddi bir problem- dir. Çalışmamızda acil servisimize başvuran travma vakalarının klinik ve de- mografik özelliklerinin araştırılması amaçlanmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntem: Araştır- maya Ankara Numune Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi Acil Servisine travmaile başvuran toplam 1267 hasta dahil edildi. Hastaların demografik verileri,başvuru anındaki vital bulguları, travma mekanizması ve şekli istenen kon- sültasyonlar ve hastaların sonlanımları, taburcu veya yatış şeklinde formla- ra kaydedildi. Bulgular: Hastalarımızın yaş ortalaması 35,3±15,4 ve %75,4sierkek olarak tespit edildi. En sık travma şekli motorlu araç kazaları (%55,8)olarak bulundu. Künt travma mekanizması belirgin oranda (%83,1) fazla olupen çok travmaya maruz kalan anatomik bölge; üst ekstremite (%44,8) olarakbelirlendi. Tartışma: Travma genç erişkin erkekleri daha çok etkilemektedir.
Abstract
Aim: Trauma is a serious problem affecting especially the young populationin the world. In our study, we aimed to investigate to the clinical and demo- graphic characteristics of trauma cases admitted to our emergency depart- ment. Material and Method: The research data were collected from 1267patients who applied to the Ankara Numune Training and Research HospitalEmergency Service with trauma. The patients demographic data, vital signand symptoms at the application time, the trauma mechanism, requestedconsultations, and the patients discharge or hospitalization procedure wererecorded on the forms. Results: The average age of the patients was deter- mined as 35.3±15.4. Male ratio of the patients was 75.4%. The most fre- quently trauma type was resulted from motorized vehicle accident (55.8%).While the mechanism of blunt trauma was significantly at a high rate(83.1%), the most frequently exposed anatomical region was upper extremi- ties (44.8%). Discussion: Trauma affects young adult males more frequently.
